Combine the freedom of dance with Dru Yoga in this fantastic 3-day course of fun, grace and exhilarating flow.

Hi and welcome to Dru Dance Teacher Training!

If you've never tried this incredible form of Dru - you're in for a treat! We'll be combining the freedom of dance with Dru Yoga in this fantastic 3-day course of fun, grace and exhilarating flow.

On this Dru post-graduate course you will have the opportunity to explore the NEW Dru dance, Santosh (inner contentment) which combines flowing warrior postures and graceful mudras to leave you feeling empowered and strong, inside and out. Santosh was conceived from my own personal practice, and, as it evolved and the dynamic movements flowed naturally one into another, I discovered some of the magic of energy and chakra awareness whilst in the midst of practice. It became a moving meditation of light. And - I'd LOVE to share that with you on this weekend.

Santosh combines flowing warrior postures and graceful mudras to leave you feeling empowered and strong both inside and out. It's both strong and fast... so be prepared for a work out - but as with all Dru it's also available and modifiable for everyone :-)

Over the course of our three days together you will:

  • learn how to teach the freedom, exhilaration and grace of Dru dance
  • develop your physical strength through strong yoga postures
  • explore powerful symbology including the Chandra and Lotus mudras and the Soma chakra
  • awaken the nadis (energy channels) of Ida, Pingala and Shushumna
  • explore Santosh (contentment) from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras
  • AND enjoy walks, great food, friendship and therpies at our retreat centre in Snowdonia

Anchoring the Dance
We've changed the format from previous years in order to take out the stress of the 'assessment'. We'll still enjoy anchoring the dance through teaching practice, and then, once you've had a chance to practice the dance at home, we'll ask you to send in a video of you doing it to check you've "got it" and have captured the essence. :-) (We thought this was much kinder than doing a full teaching assessment!) We'll also be providing you will a full online video manual plus a couple of worksheets which I'll be filming this month in Portugal (Ahhhh! Woe is me! I have to go to the beach and film some yoga....)

This is going to be such a great few days together - we're all really excited and looking forward to sharing this wonderful Dru Dance with you. :-)

See you soon,

Anouschka, Christiane and Helen

You'll have a great time!

The format of this weekend is a little different from our usual Dru retreats. We will be starting on Saturday evening and dancing together through till Tuesday. Here's a rough outline of what we'll be covering over our 3 days together:

  • A dynamic Dru Dance sequence choreographed to music, as well as how to teach this dance to others either as a workshop or as lessons
  • Flow-ins - preparatory movements to prepare the body for the dance
  • A break down of the elements of the dance including the transition moves
  • Exploring the symbology behind the dance including deeper aspects of yoga philosophy
  • Observed teaching practice and informal assessments
  • Introduction to your home study/research project of this dance
  • Walks and time to balance in nature - hopefully with a bit of outdoor dancing too!
  • The rejuvenating power of deep relaxation

At this module you will learn a dynamic Dru Dance sequence choreographed to music, which you can use anytime to energise and empower yourself. And, when you feel confident enough - teach it to others! As a Dru Yoga Post-Grad course this module enables you to go and teach this dance to others either as a workshop or as lessons.

You can start teaching the Dance you've learnt on this module as soon as you have submitted your reflective research portfolio for this Dance sequence, which is due 3 weeks after the module.

You are eligible for the Dru Dance Teacher Training once you've qualified as a Dru Yoga teacher. You can also join the Dru Dance Teacher Training after you've completed the first half of your teacher training course. In order to teach Dru Dance you need to have gained teaching experience in Dru Yoga for at least 12 months.

After successfully completing 3 dance modules you qualify as Dru Dance teacher.
