The health benefits of juicing

 -
Duration:
18 mins

Juicing is the perfect antidote to our modern lifestyle of toxins, stress and processed food.  This class will show you how to use three different types of juicing machines and also what the best fruits and vegetables are to use to maximize nutrition and minimise calories.

Keith reminds us is this session that we must start to see juicing not as a 'difficult to make drink' but rather as an 'easy to make meal!'

A self-confessed 'juiceaholic', he answers the all important question: What is the difference between juicing and processed food?

  • processed food is high in calories and low in nutrients
  • juices are low in calories and high in nutrients

Keith talks about the two types of juicers:

  • the cheaper centrifugal juicer (£20 /£100) that grinds the juice by spinning and cutting it into smaller pieces.
  • the more expensive masticating juicer -  (£300) that acts like a 'human mouth' - slowly 'chewing'  the vegetables and separating the juice.
  • the slow juicer (around £90 - £100) which mashes the vegetables.

In this session he shows us how to make three delicious juices, using the three different juicing machines. He calls his juices his "traffic light juices'

The red juice
beetroot, celery, ginger and apple

The orange juice
carrots, apple and ginger

The green juice
cucumber, carrot, kale, spinach, rocket, celery, ginger, fennel and garlic

'My advice is, get yourself a juicer and give your micro-wave to someone you don't like!'
