Natural Health & Food
Dru Natural health foods
We are all aware that without fuelling our bodies with healthy, high-energy food, all the things we want to achieve daily may not be possible.
In our search for the best natural answers to this issue, we’ve found the most satisfying ethically-produced food, ensuring that as we take from mother nature with one hand, we give back with the other.
Dru Barley Grass
100% pure, this wholesome green food is made from the powdered leaves of young barley grass plants (hordeum vulgare). Dr Yoshihide Hagiwara spent ten years researching green foods and finally found green barley to be superior to all others.
Young barley leaves have an amazing ability to absorb the soil's rich nutrients. The plant's nutritional peak is reached just before the time when it channels nutrition to the seed heads, which is the time of reproduction. Harvesting is carefully managed, as young barley leaves have a very different chemical makeup than the adult plant. Also, at this stage the plant does not contain gluten, and therefore barley grass powder is suitable for people on a gluten free diet. Once harvested, the barley grass is dried, and then milled to an exceptionally fine powder, keeping the nutrients active and intact. Dru Barley Grass is grown at an organic farm in New Zealand and is Certified Organic by the Soil Association.

Do not take barley grass powder if you are taking warfarine or other blood thinning drugs. People with a weak, frail constitution with signs of coldness should take caution while using barley grass. Chlorella or spirulina may be more suitable. Please contact us if you are unsure.
How to use Barley Grass
Mix with water, milk, yogurt or your favourite juice. Add to cereals or mix it in dips or even incorporate it in home made energy bars. Barley grass mixes well in liquids, but the nutrients may become unstable in warm or hot liquids (over 49'C / 125'F), so best taken in cold drinks or drinks at room temperature. Adults: Start with half a rounded teaspoon (2 g) daily, increasing to 1 teaspoon (4 g) over a fortnight. No more than 4 teaspoons (16 g) should be taken daily. This will help your body become accustomed to this powerful food gradually. Children and pets: half the adult intake. Best taken one hour before meals or on an empty stomach. Dru recommends eating a varied and balanced diet as part of a positive healthy lifestyle.
