Important Health Considerations
Do you have any of these conditions? Explore these points before starting this class:
- Active disc problems, acute sciatica or back prone to spasms – avoid or use caution during forward/backward bends
- High blood pressure if uncontrolled, or low blood pressure / postural hypertension – avoid inversions or lifting your arms above your heart
- Sinus problems or congestion, glaucoma, detached retina – avoid strong inversions like the full forward bend
- Hernias, recent abdominal surgery, pregnancy… or after eating – avoid strong twists
- Instead of lying down on your front – or possibly your back: You may be better lying on your side after eating, or if you’ve had recent abdominal surgery or significant cardiac or respiratory problems… or if you are pregnant
- First three days of menstruation – The Bhima may be too strong for you
