Karma Yoga Retreat in Snowdonia - Sept 2020

7 September, 2020

We warmly invite you to come and enjoy the experience of volunteering at Snowdonia Mountain Lodge!

As a social enterprise, we really care about creating a better world though our health, wellbeing, peace and not-for-profit initiatives and it’s been through working together as a team that we have been able to create lasting positive changes. Volunteers come from all walks of life and from all over the world. Their creativity and care transforms all that we do and offer out to the world. For the yoga enthusiast, volunteering is a way of taking yoga off the mat and into everyday life (karma yoga).

Dates: 7-10 September

What can you expect?

Karma yoga, walks, yoga classes, story-telling, shared meals, cookery, teamwork, charity support, expert talks, kirtan and chanting, mentoring programmes, social and community events.

Karma yoga means the ‘yoga of action’, which is focused on giving back to the community in a selfless way. Karma yoga retreats are a fantastic way to make new friends, learn new skills and enjoy teamwork by working on different practical projects together. The tasks include: grounds and gardening, updating websites, deep cleaning, video editing, social media, graphics, photography or building maintenance. The programme will include approximately six hours of volunteer work daily, with a morning yoga and meditation class, a chanting session and talk on yoga philosophy. Your working environment will be in the midst of the beautiful scenery of Snowdonia National Park, with beautiful walks and time in nature included.

Possible Karma Yoga activities will be:-

  • light maintenance/building work;
  • deep cleaning;
  • cooking;
  • gardening;
  • photography;
  • website / IT support.

And there's more...

We will also make sure that your time here is as nourishing and as rewarding as possible.  Therefore we include in your programme sessions like:-

  • yoga & relaxation;
  • meditation;
  • walks and yoga in nature;
  • mantra chanting (kirtan);
  • satsang on Bhagavad Gita.

And not to forget - your working environment will be in the midst of the stunning scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, with beautiful walks and time in nature included!

The course has helped me to integrate my practice into daily life - it has helped me to feel more relaxed about my experiences. I am able to now take my yoga off the mat by developing awareness on physical, pranic, emotional/motivational and knowings. I now feel I'm piecing together a toolkit to use in daily life; be it simply being able to witness something or in being able to do something to shift it.
As a yoga teacher I have been able to guide individual students on a one to one basis to help them remove some quite deep rooted blocks!

Participating in the course has helped me to go deeper and experience things about myself that I have not experienced before. It brought up emotions and has enabled me to find tools that help me to deal with them. I am a lot more confident in everything I do; I feel comfortable with myself, my life and now find that I am able to deal with everything which comes my way. My language has developed and I now feel confident to use words to try and take my students into experiencing all kosha levels.
