A class to bring back a sense of balance into our busy days and stressful lives. We live in a society that often values busyness and so sometimes we need to take time move into a place of stillness to readdress the balance. Find out how with this class filmed on location in Canberra, Australia.
The earth element is associated with the base or Muladhara chakra. When there is balance in this chakra you feel stable and secure. You are able to connect to the power of the earth and it fills you with a sense of strength. You are also able to consciously utilise the earth energy to help you to release and transform old emotions and thought patterns.
Out of balance the earth energy can either be too strong e.g. you feel stuck or stagnant or it could be weak causing a feeling of being ungrounded. The earth energy is said to rise up from your feet in an upwards direction. So, if you get cold feet or feel ungrounded you may need to consciously work with mobilising the feet, ankles and legs to create a stronger energetic flow.
Walking is the perfect way to create balance, flow and harmony in the base chakra - or of course - Dru Yoga!
In this class:
Activation:

- Wide leg squat
- Cross activation

Earth prayer (mudra sequence)
Based on elements of Indian classical dance, Bharat Natyam this beautiful sequence sets the intension for the class.
EBR 1 - The Foundation Dru Sequence
A fantastic sequence that helps to loosen up all the muscles and joints in the body. It also frees up your energy ready for it to be directed and transformed throughout the class

A more dynamic version of the traditional Dru sequence helping you to bring dynamism and power as you activate the earth element within your body.
Maltese Cross
This wonderful twisting posture helps to release and mobilise any energy caught in lower spine, and, with a wonderfully open heart area, allows that energy to rise and be transformed into love and compassion.
Meditation
Sitting comfortably allow yourself to settle for meditation. Beginning with the vertical alignment breath as you find your connection and balance between the earth and the heavens.
In Prithvi dharanam (concentration upon the earth) Angela guides your awareness gently downwards through your body and into the earth beneath you. Anchor your awareness deep into the earth, feeling a sense of assurance and stability.
Ascending from the earth draw up with you a quality of the earth such as abundance, nurturing, stability or evolution. Whatever quality calls to you - consciously draw it up with your awareness, through the body and up into the heart centre. Allow that quality to rest at the heart and gently awaken into the moment.
