Yoga for your Ayurvedic body type - Vata

 -
Duration:
37 mins

In this class Nanna Coppens guides you through a session specifically designed for anyone who has a vata ayurvedic body type. This class is also perfect for anyone (regardless of your normal body type) who may feel a little "vata" today (unbalanced, stressed or anxious).

De-stress and relax with this calming and nurturing class dedicated to balancing  the vata personality.

A vata type is outgoing, friendly and creative, yet when he or she is not in balance they can be stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. Physical symptoms of an out of balance vata person are visible as conditions such as insomnia, joint pain and brain fog.

In this class we are going to reduce your vata imbalance and instead, help create a calm, grounded state of mind and body. Be prepared to feel totally nurtured, relaxed and stress free! The class will include the following:

  • gentle activations - scooping the shoulders, the spinal wave and the forward bend with squat
  • the Earth sequence with a vata focused modification
  • the mudra (hand gesture) known as 'the Gesture of Solitude'
  • the sitting spinal twist - performed in two stages, simple and advanced - which is energetically 'held in place' with a mudra called 'the mudra of centering'
  • finally you are invited to lie down and relax as Nanna guides you through a calming version of the Deep Yogic Breath.

Are you vata, pitta or kapha? Do the ayurvedic questionnaire below to discover your ayurvedic body type.

Introduction to Ayurveda

An introduction to "Yoga for your Ayurvedic body type"
There are three main Ayurvedic body types: vata, pitta and kapha.  All of us exhibit a primary dosha yet throughout the day, year and life time we experience a combination of all three. Throughout the three sessions, Nanna will guide you through the  three doshas dedicated to the three different body types and explain how all of us need to rediscover balance, health and happiness.

pitta

Yoga for your Ayurvedic body type - Pitta
In this session, designed specifically for anyone who has a pitta Auyvedic body type, Nanna Coppens will guide you through movements and postures that will bring all you dynamic achievers into the present.  For a moment forget all those things on your 'to do' list, let go of all stress and join Nanna.

Kapha

Yoga for your Ayurvedic body type - Kapha
Let’s get you moving! A kapha personality type is grounded, loyal, steady, compassionate and reliable. Out of balance they tend to like food (a little too much!) – and (hence) may be slightly over weight, insecure and  lacking in motivation - (and maybe even a a teeny weeny bit on the lazy side! ). If you are exhibiting kapha symptoms then use this class to mobilise your circulation and lymphatic system as well as mobilising your desire to achieve anything in life! This class will be sure to ignite your energy levels and you will have a lot of fun!

It's not often I feel Vata (being a bit more on the Pitta side myself), but I've really enjoyed this class - and I agree with all the comments below - it helps us to feel calm, grounded and stable. Thank you.
