The spinal wave yoga CPD workshop offers an in-depth exploration of one of the most distinctive and rewarding principles in Dru Yoga — the idea that all movement originates in the spine, and that the spine itself is a living, dynamic structure.
In Dru Yoga, the spinal wave is the practical expression of this principle. It teaches you how to move sequentially through each vertebra, creating what the page describes as segmental mobility — a quality that many practitioners find contributes significantly to a feeling of ease, aliveness and wellbeing in the back. At the same time, the spinal wave opens a path into the subtler dimensions of yoga practice: working with prana (life force), the nadis (energy channels), and the relationship between breath, movement and inner stillness.
This workshop moves through two layers of understanding. At a physical level, you’ll develop greater spinal awareness and mobility, with direct applications in EBRs (energy block release sequences) and common asanas (yoga postures). At an energetic level, you’ll explore how conscious spinal movement may help draw prana up and along the spine — and how this connects to some of yoga’s older contemplative traditions.
In this CPD workshop, you may explore:
- How to apply the spinal wave yoga CPD principles across EBRs and common asanas
- Using the spinal wave to deepen awareness in every breath
- Developing segmental mobility and spinal awareness
- Working with prana flow and the ida and pingala nadis (the two primary energy channels)
- How the spinal wave may support greater flow and integration in your overall practice
This session may particularly suit senior students, recently graduated teachers, and those preparing for Dru’s Subtle Energetics courses. Dru Professional Network members may accrue 1.5 CPD hours for attendance; practitioners from other schools are advised to check with their own associations.
