Online Sound Healing Workshop
Free Your Voice – A Two-Session Sound Healing Workshop
Free your voice. A two-session online sound healing workshop with Petra Opsteeg - nada yoga, vocal toning, mantra, and the meditation that arrives in the stillness beyond sound.
Free Your Voice with Petra Opsteeg and the Dru Team
Most of us use a fraction of our voice.
Not because anything is wrong — but because years of stress, habit, and the simple pressure of daily life have left most of us with a voice that is held back, held in, and only partially free. We speak. We get by. But somewhere behind that, there is a voice that is fuller, deeper, and more completely ours.
These two sound healing evenings, led by Petra Opsteeg — Dru Senior Sound Tutor — are an invitation to find it.
Through nada yoga, the yoga of sound, Petra will take you layer by layer through the five koshas: releasing what is held in the body, expanding what is possible in the breath, opening the full spectrum of vocal expression, and arriving — through kirtan and mantra — in a quality of inner stillness that many people find is deeper than anything they have touched in meditation before.
You don’t need to have attended her previous masterclasses. All you need is your self and your voice, whether or not you feel able to sing or feel good about your voice.
Session One — Thursday 22 Oct, 7–8.30pm BST
Freeing the Body, the Breath, and the Pranic Voice
Sound doesn’t come from the throat. It comes from the whole body — and most of us have no idea how much freeing our body will free our voice.
In this first session, Petra and the Dru team work with the annamaya and pranamaya koshas: the physical body and the pranic body. You’ll release what the body has been carrying, open the real depth of your breath, and discover — often to your great surprise — that your voice is already stronger and freer than you thought.
What we’ll explore in Session One:
- The Full-Body Sound Release — releasing shoulder, chest, jaw, belly, and pelvic holding: all the places that limit your voice without you ever knowing it’s happening
- Pranayama for Vocal Freedom — breath practices that expand your pranic capacity and let the voice move without restriction
- The Grounded Voice — a partner practice in voice projection: speaking not from effort but from the your whole self, with fullness and grounding in the body. When you get this, people know it immediately
- The Sound Body Relaxation — a closing practice directing sound from the base of the body to the crown, and back down like a shower of light: landing you in the deepest stillness
Session Two — Tuesday 27 Oct, 7–8.30pm BST
Expression, Intention, and the Stillness Beyond Sound
Once the body is free and the breath is open, something becomes possible that wasn’t before: expression with real depth.
In the second session, Petra moves into the manomaya and vijnanamaya koshas — the minds of feeling and of wisdom. Through chanting, name work, and a remarkable exercise in vocal intention, you’ll begin to understand not just how to use your voice, but what it is actually for.
What we’ll explore in Session Two:
- The Name Practice — singing your own name, softly and then fully: a deeply moving practice, to help you really hear yourself – and even begin to love yourself in a whole new way
- The Spectrum of Expression — vowel sounding and mantra chanting to open the full range of what your voice can do, well beyond what most of us ever explore
- The Great Stage — scaling vocal intention from a room, to a person you love at the far side of the world, to a prayer for peace. The quality of sound that emerges is uniquely YOU!
- Finding Your Chakra Tones — beginning the journey of finding the natural tonal resonance of three key chakras: base, heart, and vishuddhi, thus accessing your feeling of being supported by life, open to it, and with full power of expression into it.
- Kirtan and the Silence After — because the stillness that arrives after real kirtan is unlike most silences. Full, rather than empty. This is the doorway into meditation that everything has been leading towards
What you’ll take away
Across both sessions, you’ll have:
- A direct experience of the connection between a free body, a free breath, and a free voice
- Sound and breath practices you can return to on your own — the grounded voice, the sound relaxation, the intention practice
- A beginning sense of the natural tonal resonance of your key chakras
- An understanding of why kirtan and mantra create a quality of stillness that is genuinely unlike anything else
- A clearer sense of what your authentic voice sounds like — and what it feels like to use it
Who this workshop is for
This workshop is well suited to:
- Anyone who attended the July Sound Healing Masterclass and wants to go further (but this is not required)
- Yoga practitioners and teachers wanting to work seriously with sound, mantra, and the subtle body
- Anyone drawn to kirtan, nada yoga, or chanting meditation who wants to understand the deeper framework — and experience it from the inside
- Anyone whose meditation practice has felt stuck, or who is curious whether sound might be the missing element
- Anyone who has always suspected their voice is more than they thought!
No singing experience is required. No previous knowledge of the koshas is needed. What helps is your curiosity — and a willingness, as always, to make a little noise.
