Yoga Teacher Training in the South West: April 2020
Whether you plan to teach yoga, want to practice effectively by yourself at home, or would like to enhance your career as a therapist, the Dru Yoga teacher training course is for you! Whatever your yoga ambitions, you’ll find Dru Yoga an empowering, energising and balancing approach to vitality, health, and wellbeing.
Don’t want to teach?
That’s OK! You can choose to do this training for your own personal development. About one-third of our students do the course for their own personal growth, knowing that Dru’s deep insights into the body-mind system will make a huge contribution to their lives.
How can we start the course at this time of coronavirus restrictions?
As your health is our topmost priority, we have decided to follow the example of many of the country’s universities and deliver the first weekend of this course (and maybe the second weekend too ...) to your own home through online platforms. The Dru Scotland course has just completed its first weekend in this way and it was more successful than we could have imagined. The students found that it was beneficial to be on the course 'online' and connecting with the team and each other at this time of uncertainty and to get started on their yoga journey.
More than ever before, at this time of uncertainty, we need something to bring balance and harmony into our lives so that we can support our family, our friends and our community. The Dru Yoga course is an incredible opportunity to support each other, and honour our humanity and ability to transform. Let’s use this time to come home to ourselves. To stay connected, learn and grow together.
Not sure yet - try out the course Live Online
If you haven't quite decided whether this course is for you, then you can try out the first day or weekend of the course without any obligation to continue.
We’ll start on 18, 19th and 20th April with two live-streamed sessions per day between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm with a break for lunch and an additional 1.5-hour session on Monday evening from 6 pm to 7.30 pm. We have shortened the course days and added the extra evening so you can easily fit them into your home schedule. From there we will support your home practice between weekends, with Zoom online study groups and personal catch-up phone calls from the team. As a result, you’ll be able to gently progress through exploring the course’s magnificent tools for transformation in person and as a group - from the comfort of your own home.

Course structure
The course runs over 2 years with 14 x non-residential weekends in Cornwall and 1 x 5-day module at the Dru Centre in North Wales about mid-way through the course. During this time of restrictions on public gatherings, the weekends will remain the same, however we will be shortening the Saturday and Sunday sessions and adding a short Monday evening session so that we can cover the material. We have also added an extra weekend on 20/21 February 2021.

Below a Southwest graduate reflects on her time on the course:-
"It's a course for life; for living. It's not work, but it requires the highest personal effort and the gift is beyond your wildest imaginings. You can be your best self and the support you will find around you will enable this. Laughter, truth, honesty, love and balance. Just do it, it's a beautiful experience." Earn as you learn
We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for you to train as a Dru Yoga teacher. For example, we encourage you to gain informal teaching experience, by teaching small groups, from halfway through the course, after an interim assessment. And from then on, the income from these small classes can help fund the course. As an example; if you gathered a group of 6 friends together every week, and asked them to pay you £5 each as a student teacher, you could make £80 to £100 per month depending on venue fees. Two classes per week and you could be covering your monthly fees.
Since 1985 we have trained thousands of Dru Yoga teachers worldwide, with many hundreds currently in training. Half our students start to teach before graduation, helping to recoup their costs.
* On some occasions we may suggest that you do some more preparation before joining the course, or that another stream of Dru would better serve you. If that happens your registration fee is fully refundable.
Dates
The course has taught me to find the power in gentleness. Previously I was used to fast-paced, high energy yoga, but deep down I knew I wanted a more holistic experience of yoga. The course has certainly delivered on this, deepening my knowledge in all sorts of areas and now I know and appreciate that postures/sequences don't have to be physically demanding to be truly powerful. Also, the whole journey has made me realise that I am enough and that you don't have to be perfect to be fabulous! The support from tutors, helpers, Dru Star Lounge is awesome.
I really enjoyed my first experience of Dru Yoga, the asanas, pranayama and relaxation experienced. Thank you Imogen and Anne.
