About Dru

Our mission is to transform the world by giving people the tools to transform themselves. Our vision is as simple as it is profound—to empower people to live a happier and more fulfilling life.

Dru UK was founded upon the ideal of giving back and that ideal still burns brightly for us today.  Since our birth in 1978, when a small group of idealistic university students sought to change the world, we have grown into an international organisation.

Peace begins with the individual

We are passionate about creating educational wellbeing programmes to inspire a natural and healthier way of living for everybody.

For the last twenty years the Dru Centre in Snowdonia National Park has been a focus for this vision, welcoming thousands of people from across the globe and all walks of life. Through our yoga, meditation, ayurveda, nutrition and self-development courses, we empower people to be the change they want to see in the world.

Dru Yoga is at the heart of what we do

Our aim has always been to promote a positive, healthier and more peaceful existence for adults and children alike, giving back to the community by channelling resources into good causes.

These good causes too have grown and, with the help of our volunteers, we now support a variety of community projects around the world. From sponsored medical clinics in India, to education initiatives in Africa, we aim to help communities and individuals who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Body and mind

The major passion we share is our love for yoga and meditation. It is through these mediums that we initially wanted to inspire the world and the community around us to find a healthier, happier, more empowered way of living. Of course, we recognise these are only two of the many routes to achieving a more fulfilling existence. However, they remain at the very core of what we do.

All of the work of Dru worldwide is non-profit; any funds left over after expenses are ploughed back into our work. Helping people harness the benefits of yoga, meditation and other self-help disciplines, watching their eyes shine as they discover their own inner power - these must surely be some of the most fulfilling things you can do!

Right from the beginning we wanted to create a worldwide network of empowered individuals working together to make a difference to the world in which we live. We believe that in giving back to the wider community and helping individuals less fortunate than ourselves, we help to create a better, more understanding environment.

So, in addition to our own training work, Dru supports a wide variety of charities and non-profits. Over the years we've channelled a percentage of our resources, time and effort into a wide range of global initiatives. From working with inner city youth and running work-life balance programmes to creating free medical camps in India, de-traumatisation training for NGOs in conflict zones and supporting the World Peace Flame, these are just some of our ways of helping to change the world for the better.
