Suitable for beginners or those with some experience. This is a gentle and traditional Dru class typically starting with Activations then an Energy Block Release sequence to release tension in the body. From there we focus in depth on a classical yoga posture (Asana) so that you understand both the benefits and how to do it safely. Students have said that while they may have done the posture before at other classes, they have never really understood how to do it or why they do it in that way before. To finish we would typically do a breathing exercise (Pranayama) or meditation before relaxation.
Wednesday evenings 6 30 to 7 30 and Thursday mornings 11 to 12 at Jamyang Buddhist Centre, Clyde Works, Ingram Road. Holbeck. Leeds LS11 9RQ £7 drop in or £30 for 5 sessions taken over a 2-month period. You can pay by either cash or card. There are plenty mats, cushions, blankets and straps at the centre, so you don't need to bring your own unless you want to. Do bring a bottle for water, you can fill it at the centre if you like. It’s good to keep hydrated as you go along.
Jamyang is a FPMT Buddhist Centre following the Mahayana Tradition. I am a Buddhist practitioner myself and both study & practice at the centre as well as being one of the trustees. You certainly don't need to be Buddhist to come along. Yoga is one of several secular activities that the centre holds for the community. There is also a fabulous café and shop open 11 until 2. So, if you like you can have coffee or lunch after your class.

I teach a 1 1/2 hour Vinyasa Flow Dru Yoga Class which combines a fun activation, EBR sequence, a vinyasa-style flow Dru sequence followed by deep relaxation, pranayama and (sometimes) meditation.

I also teach private sessions for adults, kids and teens. Private sessions may be for yoga (I get referrals from local physiotherapists but you can also self-refer for a home program or an intro to yoga) and/or 8 week mindfulness programs for better sleep, reduced stress/anxiety/depression, better focus and attention, improved moods and emotional balance. Studies show that mindfulness participants experienced a 35% reduction in the number of medical symptoms and a 40% reduction in psychological symptoms.

We always work mindfully, cultivating a harmonious relationship between mind and body and tuning in to our own intuition. I take my students through activation series, into energy block release sequences to really come into flow and then through postures and into a deep relaxation. It's a space of acceptance and compassionate presence. Because of how we practise, it can really benefit stress, fatigue, anxiety, as well as helping students to find clarity on their path.

Had a hectic and stressful week?....Why not winddown for the weekend with a lovely relaxing yoga session at St Barts?

Lessons start promptly at 7pm for an hour.

Dru is a slow moving gentle form of yoga which concentrates on maintaining flexibility of the spine. All ages can use this form of yoga to maintain health and flexibility and it is often used as a tool for people recovering from a back injury.

This style of yoga works with postures, breath work, relaxation and meditation. Its series or sequences are called Energy Block Release.

Anyone wishing to join us should bring along a mat as well as a blanket for relaxation. Also, a small bottle of bottle to drink throughout the lesson.

I have developed my own style of teaching from all my different teachers. Hatha and Dru Yoga are the main styles I have practised and my yoga is a mix of these two.

What I find works for me is what I teach. I try to be authentic in that I teach directly from my own experience. My language is invitational; we go on a journey together in each class. I don't often 'adjust' students, preferring to just give verbal instructions about alignment so that each one of us in the room finds our own Asana (comfortable seat).

In every class we work with moving the body in time with the breath, so our yoga practice becomes a moving meditation. I always include a 15 minute relaxation at the end of every class and often a short seated meditation.

My Dru yoga classes are 90 min duration. They consist of a short activation (warming up the body and the spine), a sequence (often an Energy Block Release EBR Sequence), sometimes a second sequences or some Asanas (postures), and then 10 minutes of Pranayam (breathing techniques), a short 10 min meditation and a lovely 20 Deep Relaxation.
All of the movements are able to be modified to suit everyone's needs. Most of the movements are very gentle flowing and with the breath. Some movements require a little more strength and balance (but are also able to be fully modified to suit the needs of students in the class).
I sometimes align the contents of the class with the current astrological charts, which gives another dimension and a little extra meaning/ purpose to the class.
I often use visualizations and affirmations during each section of the class.
And we always have a nice, relaxed and fun time coming together.

I have a Friday morning class in Cowes, Phillip Island at Health on Course. Students who have not experienced Dru Yoga are keen to try, others who have not found a yoga to suit have felt more comfortable with Dru and that it is a better fit. There can be an instant response to the special Dru Sequences or even the postures which may not have been practised before, flowing into their lives awakening some part which is needing clarification. The experience of Dru Yoga is very powerful and rewarding.

We start moving to music to have some fun & release tension, followed by wonderful stretches, gentle, flowing poses & sequences, soothing breath &/or meditation techniques & a deep, delicious relaxation at the end to ensure you are completely relaxed & ready to go back into the world feeling open-hearted, happy & clear.

I have gentle classes - for people with chronic illness, & also healthy but very stressed people.
Strength, balance & mindful movement classes for carers and people who are unsteady or older. Everyone benefits. Beginners are welcome. Men are also welcome.
* We usually follow a theme during the term exploring different concepts, attitudes, power words or nature.

I am an intuitive teacher who loves helping those who come to my classes benefit from and develop their own love of yoga. Classes are relaxed and friendly, suitable for beginners and those with more experience who wish to take their understanding and experience of yoga deeper. I have a holistic approach to teaching, explaining what each posture is doing for your body, for you emotionally, mentally and energetically and any ways you can adapt the posture to meet your body's own individual needs. I teach simple meditation and breathing techniques to reduce stress and anxiety during class and always finish with a very nourishing, deep relaxation. Classes become more than just a place to experience yoga, they become a sanctuary to recharge with friends.
You come away feeling your Self again, calm, clear and revitalized on every level.
I teach regular meditation classes each week and if you are interested there is always an option to work in group meditation.

I hold regular workshops that give you an opportunity to explore yoga and related topics more deeply. Some examples include Yoga and Meditation for Self-Empowerment, Understanding Yoga and the Chakras, YogaDance, Super-vitality foods, An Agni Fire Masterclass to name just a few.

From this year I will be running a yearly Yoga, Sound and Meditation Retreat in the mountains of Assisi.

When restrictions on social contact are lifted I will resume teaching Dru Yoga classes in and around the beautiful market towns of Richmond, North Yorkshire and Barnard Castle, County Durham.

My typical Dru Yoga session consists of a short activation, usually to music, to get the circulation flowing and to get the body moving. This is followed by an Energy Block Release sequence. This is a series of beautiful flowing movements aimed at increasing the flow of energy around the body and releasing any tension from the muscles and joints. A session will normally also include a breathing exercise and a posture. Every session finishes with a guided relaxation, which really helps embed the benefits of the session.
